HOUSE RULES


 

1. Use of alcohol or any illegal drug will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the house.  This includes any over the counter medication not approved by the house Managers and/or directors.


2. Physical confrontation or the threat of physical confrontation will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the house.


3. NO profanity.  From time to time we have guests in the house and profanity appears unprofessional and will not be tolerated.


4. Residents with a continuously poor attitude towards the staff, our recovery program and/or other residents will be asked to leave.


5. All residents are required to attend at least one recovery meeting per day while living at the Anchor House.


6. Mandatory meetings are just that, mandatory.  Failure to attend or being late without calling can result in a fine and restriction or expulsion from the house.


7. All residents are to keep their living area clean at all times, including beds being made upon awakening.


8. All residents will be assigned a house chore.  Chores are assigned on Monday of every week.  Your chore is your responsibility for the entire week.  Chores are to be done daily and, in some cases, more than once per day.  You must mark the chore board every day after your chore is completed to ensure proper credit.  Chores must be marked off before 10:30 pm on weeknights and 11:30 pm on weekends.  Failure to do your assigned chore or mark it off on the board will result in a Redmark.  This violation consists of restriction to the house for 1 week.  Receiving 2 Redmarks in 2 weeks will result in either a 2 week restriction or expulsion from the house.


9. The first 30 days curfew is 10:00PM Sunday – Saturday.


10. Curfew is at 11 pm on weekdays (Sunday-Thursday) and at 12 am on weekends (Friday and Saturday).  All residents will be in bed from 11 pm until 4 am on weekdays and 12 am to 4 am on weekends.


11. After 60 days of residency you are eligible for an overnight pass.  All requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance and approved by a Manager and/or Director.  Rent must be paid one week in advance and you cannot be under any time of house disciplinary action.  Remember, this is a privilege, not a right.


12. There is a 10 minute time limit on all calls on the house phone.  No personal calls will be allowed.  This is a business phone.  Residents receive calls from employers, prospective employers, attorneys, probation officers, etc.  DO NOT TIE UP THE PHONE.  There are several pay phones within a short distance of the house.  Abuse of this policy can result in loss of phone privileges entirely.  We request that you answer the phone in a businesslike manner. We suggest the following: “Hello, Anchor House, this is (your name) speaking, may I help you?


13. Sleeping or laying on the couches, chairs, etc. is strictly forbidden.


14. All residents will be fully dressed at all timed while in any common area of the house.  This includes wearing shoes, socks, shower shoes, or sandals.  No bare feet. 


15. All residents must obtain a job within the first 2 weeks of residency.  Anyone not employed within a 2 week period will not be allowed to live at the Anchor House and must find residency elsewhere. 


16. While in the Anchor House you are required to hold a job.  If you are unemployed, you are to be out of the house between the hours of 8am and 2pm looking for work.  This does not include meetings or visiting with family and friends.  If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with a staff member.


17. As a resident you are subject to a breathalyzer or urinalysis test at any time.


18. The kitchen closes at 10-:30 pm on weekdays and 11:30 pm on weekends.  Clean up after yourself.  Put away all cooking utensils, plates, cups, silverware, etc.


19. Keep records of what you earn.  You may be required to prove income.  No resident can be self-employed.  Employment must be with a company that withholds taxes.  No under-the-table work.


20. Do not keep items of value at the house (TV’s, stereos, jewelry, etc.).  The Anchor House is not responsible for any items lost or stolen.  No other TV’s are allowed except the house TV.


21. The television is not to be turned on between 8 am and 2 pm on weekdays and must be turned off at 11 pm on weekdays and 12 am on weekends.


22. Lights out is at 11 pm on weekdays and 12 am on weekends.  This means no showers, eating, music or noise of any kind after lights out.


23. Clean up after yourself (ashtrays, newspapers, cups, etc.)


24. Residents are not to engage in any romantic relationships or sexual activity.  This does not apply to married persons with their spouse.  Obscene or pornographic material (including magazines and videos) are not allowed.  Staff and Directors reserve the right to determine what is obscene or not.


25. For the safety of all our residents, smoking in any area other than the designated smoking area is strictly forbidden and can result in expulsion from the house.


26. You are expected to abide by any and all reasonable requests made by staff.


27. Residents’ belongings and person are subject to search by staff at any time.  Residents must be present during search.  Refusing to submit to a search is grounds for dismissal from the house.
